A. V. Shevchenko is a painter and graphic artist, art theorist and teacher.
He joined the group of one of the founders of the Russian avant-garde, Mikhail Larionov and his wife Natalia Goncharova. They become the organizers of the “Donkey Tail” artistic group and its eponymous exhibitions. It was a group of neo-primitive artists.
Still life of Alexander Shevchenko from prof. Abrahamyan’s collection consists of traditional objects for artists of the early 20th century - vases, plates, bottles, fruits and bread.
A small painting “Laundresses” is a version of the painting of 1917 “Landscape with Laundresses,” stored at the State Tretyakov Gallery.
In the late 1920s and early 1930s, as a result of the artist’s travels, his work was enriched by new, oriental motifs.
