N. P. Krymov spent his long life writing nature.
At Yerevan Museum of Russian Art there are four fine specimens of Krymov’s painting.
The painting «Dawn» was created in 1908 by a 24-year-old artist. This air painting represents the awakening of nature, bathed in gentle morning light.
In the landscape «On the mill» (1915) the artist actively uses shadows, the presence of which gives the canvas as a whole some light-shade unity.
In the «First Snow» of 1917, chiaroscuro contrasts became the main motive.
In another work of Krymov , «Hot Day» (1920) the charm of primitives is caught.
His work was greatly influenced by Isaac Ilyich Levitan. Krymov wrote: “I was impressed in Levitan’s unusually delicate vision, ability to transmit moments of the day and character of Russian nature.” These qualities were fully shared by Nikolai Petrovich Krymov, the master of the lyrical landscape.
